Recent Changes to ASTM Standards

In the fall of 2009 the ASTM committee E04.05 began consolidating the testing standards of ASTM E384 (micro hardness testing) and ASTM E92 (macro hardness testing) into one testing standard. In early February of 2010 ASTM E384-10 was released which included the ASTM E92 testing standard. With the latest revision of ASTME384-10E2, no technical changes have been have been made to the standard aside from the consolidation of these two standards. It is important to note that with the consolidation of ASTM E92 into ASTM E384, ASTM E92 has now been formally withdrawn and requests for macro hardness calibrations (Loads ranging from 1 kgf – 120 kgf) would now fall within ASTM E384-10.
